Losses

Internal losses are losses before delivery as a result of unacceptable quality. They arise from reduced efficiency caused by rework, poor ergonomics, etc. They also include costs of non-quality resulting from a product not meeting quality requirements prior to delivery (e.g. repeating the provision of a service, renewed production, rework, reinspection and testing, rejects). External losses are tangible and intangible losses following delivery that are identified as a result of unacceptable quality.
