Adjustment
A number of operations performed on a measuring system so that it provides prescribed readings corresponding to values of a quantity to be measured.
Note 1: The various types of measuring system adjustments include zero-point adjustment, offset adjustment and characteristic value adjustment (also known as span adjustment).
Note 2: Adjustment of a measuring system should not be confused with calibration, which is a prerequisite for adjustment.
Note 3: After adjusting a measuring system, the measuring system usually has to be recalibrated.
