Burndown Chart (Release and Iteration)

Burndown Charts record the progress of the team, which is compared to ready or delivered functionality. The x-axis shows the days of the current Iteration (Iteration Burndown Chart) and the y-axis shows the work (e.g. in Story Points).

The Iteration Burndown Chart is updated daily by the Agile Team and is, therefore, very simple. If every developer of the Agile Team estimates his remaining effort, the accuracy improves daily.

In a Release Burndown Chart, the milestones are according to the Release Planning and are, therefore, recorded according to the advance of the project.

Trends and prognoses can be derived from the Burndown Charts.
