OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
For the purposes of the IATF 16949 certification scheme, an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is defined as the producer of automotive vehicles that are sold to consumers.
In the automotive industry this term is used to describe the vehicle manufacturers. (See also Tier 1…n).
